About

A family business
with wood at its centre.

JR Lyktor was founded in 2023 by Jenny and Oscar — a married couple making premium wood interior pieces for the home, slowly and with care. The idea began one December when Jenny was looking for a wood lantern of real quality and realised nothing on the market quite measured up. So we decided to make our own.

Oscar grew up in Skåne in the south of Sweden before spending ten years in the north — where winter darkness sets in early and stays for months, and light becomes a quiet companion through the season. That feeling, of a soft glow against a long Nordic evening, is the starting point for everything we make.

JR Lyktor is the two of us. Oscar is the visionary — chasing ideas, sketching what doesn't exist yet, restless until a piece feels right. Jenny is the anchor — the steady hand that turns those ideas into something real, keeps the studio moving, and makes sure nothing slips through the cracks. The pieces you see exist because of both of us.

Our first piece is a 60 cm tall oak lantern — solid oak, quiet brass details, and a heat-resistant glass cylinder. It sets the tone for everything that follows: pieces with weight, warmth, and a sense of home — wood as the leading material, with sound construction and a Scandinavian feel.

More pieces are in development — stools, shoehorns, shelves, vessels, and other quiet objects for the home. Not furniture, but considered pieces, each made the same way: in small numbered runs, with materials that age beautifully — bringing a level of craft and quality that's rarely found in this category today.

Our values

Material

Solid oak, brass details, and heat-resistant glass. Honest materials that age beautifully and stand up to an open flame.

Design

Developed slowly with a CAD designer and a furniture maker, in small numbered runs. Each prototype is tested before the next step.

Longevity

Built to live with for decades — repairable, sandable, and designed with replaceable components in mind. Never disposable.

"Made to live with — quietly, every evening, for a very long time."
