About

A quiet family practice
for wood objects.

JR was founded in 2023 by Jenny and Oscar — a husband-and-wife duo making premium wood objects for the home, slowly and with care. The idea began one December, when Jenny went looking for a wooden lantern of real quality and found that nothing on the market quite existed. So we set out to make our own.

Oscar grew up in Skåne, in the south of Sweden, before spending ten years in Norrland — where winter darkness settles in early and stays for months, and light becomes a quiet companion through the season. That feeling, of a soft glow against a long northern evening, is the starting point for everything we make.

JR is the two of us. Oscar is the visionary — the one chasing ideas, sketching what doesn't exist yet, restless until a piece feels right. Jenny is the anchor — the steady hand that turns those ideas into something real, keeps the studio moving, and makes sure nothing slips through. The pieces you see exist because of both.

Our first piece is a 60 cm oak lantern — solid oak, quiet brass details and a heat-tolerant glass cylinder. It sets the tone for everything that follows: pieces with weight, warmth and a sense of home — wood as the leading material, with safe construction and a Scandinavian sensibility.

More pieces are in development — stools, shoehorns, shelves, planters and other quiet objects for the home. Not furniture, but considered pieces, each made the same way: in small numbered runs, with materials chosen to age beautifully, in a category that today barely exists.

Values

Material

Solid oak, brass details, heat-tolerant glass. Honest materials, chosen to age well and live with an open flame safely.

Design

Developed slowly with a CAD designer and a furniture maker, in small numbered runs. Each prototype tested before the next step is taken.

Longevity

Built to be lived with for decades — repairable, refinishable, with replaceable components in mind. Never disposable.

"Made to be lived with — quietly, every evening, for a very long time."
